I bought this because I'm a beekeeper and I thought it would be cool to make skep shaped cakes using my own honey. I've used my mould twice now with my own banana and honey cake recipe. It's been very successful except for the fact that, whether I grease, grease and flour or don't grease at all, the nooks and crannies (i.e. the doorway of the skep and the bee shapes) seem to be almost burnt by the time the cake is cooked through, spoiling the look of the cake. I've had to cover the bees up with bees made of fondant icing dyed yellow and black. It would be great to know how to overcome this, but on the whole it's a great product and I've certainly had no problem removing the cake from the mould.
Next time I'll try out your honey cake recipe, and see if this makes any difference.
